Your Petoskey District Library (PDL) and several northern Michigan libraries are bringing the joy of browsing the shelves to your mobile device. The PAC2 library consortium is pleased to announce the release of an online catalog app. The app is available on the Apple app store and Google Play, and can be found by searching PAC2, or by scanning a QR code found at www.petoskeylibrary.org, or on takeaway bookmarks available at the libraries. The PAC2 library consortium app includes Alcona County Library, Boyne District Library, Charlevoix Public Library, Cheboygan Public Library, Crooked Tree District Library, Mackinaw Area Public Library, Petoskey District Library, and Presque Isle District Library.
The mobile app might look familiar to those who have used the libraries’ online catalogs before- it is powered by Bibliocommons, the same company who built their online search catalog. Patrons will notice a modern, functional design that highlights the best the libraries have to offer. Searching for materials is an engaging experience that promotes discovery every step of the journey.
The app makes it easy for library patrons to digitally browse the libraries’ collections, get details on items, place a hold for later pickup, and even renew items previously checked out. eBooks can be checked out too with the touch of a button. The app’s location finder also lets patrons find the location and operating hours of the nearest library location. “Our new app has many of the same features we love about our online catalog including the ability to save books on your ‘For Later’ shelf, or even keep track of titles you’ve read, but my absolute favorite is the digital library card feature. Now your library card (and the library) is always in your pocket!”, said Circulation Supervisor and Public Services Librarian, Jodi Haven.
